khaleesipls: (deadlock)

Jorah’s powers (detailed below) involve a sort of short range superpower radar by which he can identify the use of super abilities around him, and outright negation.

Additionally, although he acts with moderation where he can, Jorah's source material is fraught with violence, and he's no stranger to killing to get himself out of a bad situation. If you'd prefer to avoid potentially hostile confrontation, drop me a line here! Another staple of the series is Jorah getting swatted down by more capable combatants, and I am always, always down for rping a good scrap.

POWER SENSE: Preternatural awareness of superpowers being used in his vicinity. Sort of like radar for superpowers -- he can detect passive abilities at work, sense someone charging up for an attack, psychic manipulation in progress, etc. He will know if someone is cheating at cards using X-ray vision, or reading his neighbor’s mind, or healing faster than they let on. He can also identify powers at work on an object or person, without the source needing to be present. Strongest within about a 50 foot radius, and fading quickly beyond that point.

The power has to be “active” for him to detect it -- ie a pyrokinetic would have to be in the process of forming or controlling fire for him to sense an ability at work and identify them as the source. Someone would actively need to be dreamwalking for him to recognize it happening to someone asleep nearby (although if the dreamwalker is operating at a distance, he won’t have any guess as to who or where they are). The more aggressive the use of the superpower, the easier it is for him to see -- especially subtle abilities (slightly enhanced strength, quiet telepathic manipulation) might escape his notice if he’s distracted.

His awareness of what’s happening doesn’t automatically lend him total understanding -- he may sense a telepath doing work on someone’s brain nearby, but wouldn’t know to what end, or even necessarily how to describe what’s happening to a third party. The more he experiences it, the better his rudimentary understanding and intuition will become.

NEGATION: Specific nullification of superpowers at close range -- Jorah needs to be within 25 feet (the closer the better) to quash a target’s superpowered ability. Best results are achieved focusing on a single subject, as this is a deliberate, directed power rather than a passive area effect. It requires awareness of the powers at work and intent on Jorah’s part to smother it out.

This negation provides him with resistance to superpowered projections/projectiles like magic missile or acid spit within that 25ft range, but would not affect mundane objects like cars or bricks thrown from a distance using telekinesis or super strength. It also provides defense against telepathy and sorts of superpowered manipulation, provided he can catch it at work and has the willpower to fight it off.

Touch is the surest way for him to drop a raging werewolf back into human mode or dial Electro down to zero. The closer the target is, the more secure the grip of his negation.

These abilities do not function when he is a bear.
